Janice Hansen Richland, WA Obituary-December 26th

Janice Marie (Anderson) Hansen, 68, of Richland, WA, passed away peacefully at home on December 26th, following a courageous battle with cancer. Surrounded by the love of family and friends, she remained a beacon of optimism, grace, and gratitude until the very end.

Born on August 29, 1957, in Coulee Dam to Marjorie and Richard Anderson, Janice grew up on the family orchard in Zillah. Her bright spirit shone early; she was crowned Miss Toppenish in 1974. After graduating high school, she attended Washington State University, where she joined Alpha Delta Pi and pursued a degree in Education. She dedicated her career to teaching at Badger Mountain Elementary.

In 1984, she married the love of her life, Scot Hansen, sharing 24 beautiful years before his passing in 2010. Faith was Janice’s cornerstone. She was deeply active in her church, leading prayer groups, studying scripture, and embarking on mission trips. A lifelong learner, she passionately researched alternative medicine and holistic nutrition, seeking ways to heal and help others.

Above all, Janice cherished her family. She was a devoted mother to Abby, Josh, and Ben, and a doting grandmother. Her selflessness defined her; she was a steadfast community advocate, always ready with a meal, shelter, or compassionate ear for anyone in need.

The family extends profound gratitude to Chaplaincy Hospice and all who provided exceptional care.

Janice was preceded in death by her husband, Scot; her parents; and her sister, Kathy Pandiani. She is survived by her children, her grandchildren, and her sisters, Judy Jennings and Karen Saba. Her legacy of kindness, faith, and unwavering love will forever illuminate the lives she touched.
